Meet the Team

Kathy lives in Pittsburgh with her husband Don, Preston’s uncle. She has a strong background in business operations and administration, recently retiring after 25 years as Operations Director for an independent financial planning company. 

Never having children of their own, Kathy & Don devote their time and hearts to their many many nieces and nephews, each one unique and special. Preston and his brothers, Wesley and Desmond are three of  those special nephews, and Preston was also Don’s godson. 

As their families live 767 miles apart, visits were never often enough or long enough but were stuffed full of family time, fun and laughter. Forever memories were made, especially during their annual trip to Pittsburgh for the holidays. 

All hearts were shattered in learning of Preston’s brain cancer diagnosis at 16. Spending many weeks in Maine with their family during this time of treatments, uncertainty, and hope was both a privilege and a true blessing for Kathy & Don. It was then that they met Preston’s loving Maine family, friends who are family, and medical team … who also became family. They observed his incredible talent and bright light shine on others, and they witnessed daily his positivity, strength, vulnerability and pure courage in his fight to ‘kick cancer’s butt’. The outcome was not what they hoped, but that doesn’t mean he lost.
